ANNOUNCEMENT: Volunteer with Cradles to Crayons after church Sunday, August 23 | Click for info
Ever been given a task that feels impossible to complete? A huge school project, an assignment at work that is so sprawling it makes you anxious just thinking about it?
When we look out at our city, we see so many people whose lives would be changed forever if they heard about Jesus. But how can we even begin to think about telling all these individuals about Jesus?
Jesus gives the answer in two steps. We’ll talk more about the second step on Sunday, but the first is in these verses: pray.
Pray to the Lord of the harvest, the Lord who knows every individual in Chicago and what they need. He will provide the workers to work together to get the job done. You don’t have to accomplish this huge task alone.
Think about the workers he’s already sent into your life!
Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
How does it give me comfort that God is the Lord of the harvest?
Lord Jesus, I pray for more workers in the harvest field. I pray that you would send people who can live and speak your gospel in comprehensive ways to their neighbors and friends. I pray that you would use me to bring more to know you. In your name, amen.
