Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Jesus meets you where you're at and we make every effort to do the same. Come as you are and follow along at your own pace. Our services don't necessarily require your participation, so please feel free to observe and join in only when you feel comfortable.
If you'd like to learn about the Bible for the first time or brush up after a few years away, consider our Foundations class.

What do you have going on outside of Sunday mornings?
Do I have to worry about my kids during the service?
I'm not ready to commit. Is that okay?
Why choose this church?
Is this a welcoming place even if I haven't been to church in a while?
Worship combines friendly informality with the liturgy, which is the traditional order of service Christians have used for centuries. You'll hear Scripture readings, hymns, and prayer that all points to Christ. Some people sing along right away; others like to sit back and observe their first few times.

Not at all. Families are welcome at Crossroads. We see children in worship as a huge blessing and we don't mind if that means a little extra joyful noise! If you need to step out with your child, there is a space in the entrance of McPherson just outside the auditorium.

We currently host a few Bible studies throughout the week, as well as regular fellowship events where we spend time together exploring different activities in Chicago. We serve neighborhood families by hosting Family Walks twice a month on Sunday afternoons. We also host Nonprofit of the Quarter events so we can serve your neighbors by partnering with a local charity. Pastor Jake is also typically running a session of our Foundations course. Please contact us using the form above if you'd like more information on any of these.

That's totally fine! Crossroads will never pressure you to give or become a member. We'd love to learn your name, but we won't bother you if you're just checking things out. If you have questions about the Christian faith and aren't ready to attend church yet, reach out to Pastor using the form above.

Our members appreciate our depth of theology and loving community. Every sermon or Bible study shows how the good news of Jesus shapes our lives as individuals and as a group. We also try to give you plenty of opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus in Chicago through our regular service events. We'd love if you'd join us as we grow our church in the city we love!

A Sunday at Crossroads
When you arrive, you can park for free in McPherson's faculty parking lot off of Lawrence Ave. Follow the signage to enter McPherson, and Pastor Jake will be there to greet you and point out a seat.
When worship begins, you can follow along in your printed worship guide. Some people sing along with the hymns right away, others prefer to sit back and observe their first few times. Feel free to join in at your comfort level.
After worship, people usually stick around for a few minutes to greet new faces or catch up with friends. You're welcome to enjoy snacks & coffee with us or head out if groups aren't your thing.
