ANNOUNCEMENT: Volunteer with Cradles to Crayons after church Sunday, August 23 | Click for info
“You can’t pour from an empty cup,” goes the saying. “Take care of yourself first and never feel guilty about it,” goes the advice.
But then family events fill up your weekends, that workout schedule you’ve been wanting to start is in the back of your mind, you still haven’t planned meals for this week, and your phone buzzes with yet another work email.
Pour, pour, pour, pour. Will your cup ever be full?
Come to Jesus, and drink in the truth that he has made you perfect in God’s sight. Perfect. No matter how much or how little you accomplish today.
Come to Jesus, and you’ll be so full entire rivers will overflow from within you.
Jesus said, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scriptures have said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
What parts of my life have felt unfulfilling recently? How does remembering my perfection before God change my perspective?
Dear Holy Spirit, you fill the spiritual empty with fulfillment. You raise the spiritually dead to life. You breathe into the spiritually stale to rejuvenate. Connect me to Jesus’ perfection, so that I may always know that I am overflowing with his love. In Jesus’ name I ask it, amen.
