“Jesus says ‘The greatest among you
should be like the youngest, and the one who
rules like the one who serves… But I am
among you as one who serves?'”

Luke 22:26,27

At Crossroads, we believe that serving our community – neighbors both near and far – is a natural way of following our Savior and reflecting his love. Crossroads volunteers regularly through quarterly Service Events, and participates in international service events.

Service Events

Courtenay Fest
Help the school children, parents and staff of Courtenay School celebrate the end of the school year. This is a fun event with games, meals and music, and it is also a great outreach event for Crossroads. Be sure to wear your Crossroads T-shirt. The volunteer duties could include setup, food prep, distribution of food and soda, ticket collecting, signing in children, or running the games at various locations. We would love to get a group of 10 or more from Crossroads to help with this event! More information will follow.

Date: Saturday, June 10th
Location: Courtenay School
Time: TBD
Sign up by emailing

Chicago Cares ($10 Registration Fee through organization)
Come represent Crossroads at the “Chicago Cares Serve-a-Thon,” the city’s largest volunteer event. We will meet at Daley Plaza wearing our Crossroads T-shirt and register under the Crossroads’ Team. Each team is then bussed to a location. Our team will be assigned to paint, clean, or plant at a Chicago public school, city garden, or non-profit organization.

Date: Saturday, June 24th from 8am to 3:30pm
Cost: $10 registration fee includes lunch and round-trip

For more information about the event and how to sign up, contact our Crossroads Service Committee at

We joined a group with the Greater Chicago Food Depository  to stock and staff the December edition of the monthly food panty in the Ravenswood neighborhood. It was a cold, snowy morning but there was a lot of food to distribute and plenty of people who needed it!

chartNov. 2013Peterson Garden Project
It may have been a little rainy on this Saturday morning, but members of Crossroads and other volunteer groups spent time moving the Peterson Garden. We stopped for a picture – and used some props that were handy!
